Prerequisites

Secured Web Services container (WS container)

1. For supported platforms, please see here. If you have a more minimal install of SUSE 9.0 on your machine, you will need to install the unzip package, bind9-utils and binutils packages in order to install the WS container.

2. Required hard disk space: 670Mb (for a full installation).

3. A Java Development Kit (JDK). Please see here for details of supported versions.

4. If you would like Jakarta tomcat to be installed on a port other than 18080, please create an environment variable called OMII_TOMCAT_PORT and set it to your chosen port value. This will then be picked up and used by the OMII Stack installer.

5. An internet connection.

6. The OMII Stack installer needs access to a server held at OMII in order to generate a temporary keystore. If your machine is required to use an HTTP proxy server in order to access remote machines, then you can set the details in the environment before running the installer eg.

export http_proxy=http://proxyhost:proxyport

If installing on an Apple Mac, you need to ensure that all the OMII supporting databases are installed on a separate Linux box - this is because the OMII does not support the use of OMII-installed PostgreSQL on the Apple Mac platform at this time. You can however install your own PostgreSQL using instructions found here.

Software Component Services:

1. An OMII server stack installation which includes the WS container with its supporting database.

Integrated Services:

1. An OMII server stack installation which includes the WS container with its supporting database.

2. An internet connection.

3. The Account Service (installed via the Software Component installation).

Cauchy Horizons (server side):

1. At least 1Mb of disk space.

2. A Linux  machine acting as a service provider with an OMII Stack installation on it (including the WS container, Account Service and the Integrated Services).

3. An internet connection.
