Mathias did his undergraduate degree in Computer Science at the Universidade of Santa Cruz in the state of Bahia/Brazil. He then moved to the University of Sao Paulo (in the state of Sao Paulo/Brazil) where he undertook an MSc in Computer Engineering which he completed in February of 2009. Currently he is undertaking a PhD in Computer Engineering in the University of Sao Paulo.

Mathias has worked with OGSA-DAI since 2007 and developed a first version of his JDBC Driver for OGSA-DAI for his MSc. Mathias' areas of interest lie in Grid Computing and High Performance Computing, and is currently investigating replication models using the OGSA-DAI middleware as well as the application of transaction theory to Grids.

Mathias will be working on Improvements to the JDBC driver for OGSA-DAI with Michal Piotrowski from EPCC at the University of Edinburgh acting as his mentor.

Miklos Erdelyi

Miklos completed a Master of Engineering in Information Technology degree in 2008 at the University of Pannonia, Hungary. He is now undertaking a PhD in the field of Information Retrieval there, doing part of his research work at the Computer Automation Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. His interests include (but not limited to) adversarial information retrieval, data mining and applications of machine learning to IR.

Miklos will be working on Advanced Data Management Capabilities Using MapReduce with Andre Merzky from the Vrije Universiteit acting as his mentor.

Saurabh Sehgal

Saurabh is a Computer Engineering undergraduate at the University of Toronto, Canada. His major interests lie in Distributed and Cloud computing. He has worked on various interesting projects throughout his university career. Saurabh was one of the developers behind IBM DB2 Database's Version 9.5 release of the High Availability/High Availability Disaster recovery solutions last year. You can find the white papers he authored on these technologies at the following links:

Saurabh has also worked as a Java Developer for a Canadian start-up company www.ooober.com, and assisted in the design and implementation of their back-end payment processing logic.

Saurabh loves reading books on Eastern Philosophy and of course, programming and logic - he is currently reading the ever so classic GEB by Douglas R. Hofstadter, and hopes to finish it soon.

Saurahb will be working on Managing Applications across Clouds with Shantenu Jha from Louisiana State University acting as his mentor.

Raviteja Dodda

Raviteja completed his third year of Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kharagpur, India. He has one more year left to complete his undergraduate degree.

His interests lies in Cloud Computing, Distributed and Grid Computing. Last Year, he did a summer internship at Newcastle University, UK. He developed an architecture for cross-cloud system management. This architecture helps in the management of compute resources from different cloud providers like Amazon, GoGrid, etc or even your own virtual grid solution. He implemented this architecture using the Amazon EC2 Query and Soap Interfaces and derived results which shows a difference in the quality of service between the two interfaces. His paper on this work has been selected recently and will be published in August as proceedings of an International Conference. You can find his paper at:

Raviteja's interests also lie in Website Designing and Programming, designed websites for his college. Being Student Head of Technology Transfer Group, IIT Kharagpur, which involves in technology transfer to the Industry. He developed a web portal which comprises of complete Research of IIT Kharagpur.

Along with two fellow techno-enthusiasts, he founded a technology based startup company V'nform an Information Providing Enterprise based on Web and Mobile Technologies. The main aim of the company is to break the information barrier easing the information flow through various channels.

Raviteja likes to listen to music, loves to play and watch cricket, and swimming. He like to watch movies, and has a special interest in trekking and adventures.

Raviteja will be working on Generating Customized User Interfaces to the Cloud focusing on the requirement of the end-user with Jano van Hemert from the National e-Science Centre (NeSC).

Roman Khachatryan
