Description
The GridSAM
project is an open source project for making resources available through a standardised job submission interface BES
using a standardised job submission language JSDL
available from the Open Grid Forum
. GridSAM provides a veneer over existing resources (either clusters or single computers) which translates the incoming standardised job submission into the format required by the underlying architecture.
A new extension to the JSDL specification is being finalised which allows the execution of {parameter sweep jobs|https://forge.gridforum.org/sf/go/doc14595?nav=1]. A parameter sweep job allows the user to specify one job description where there may be variation in one or more of the values defined in the job description. The job execution service will then expand this description into a number of jobs each of which represents one of the possible variations in the original document.
The project is to implement the parameter sweep extension within the GridSAM project which will enable the evaluation of this extension.
Project Requirements
A competent programmer in Java is required for this work along with experience in using XML in Java, XPath and scripting in Java such as Groovy. A knowledge of one or more of the following would be a great advantage: XQuery, XSLT, Condor, Globus, Grid Engine.
